A Halton Hills man is facing charges after allegedly trying to set a Milton hair salon on fire.

Police say someone smashed the front window of the business on Main St. East just after 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The suspect tried to use an accelerant to start a fire on the property but police say he was unsuccessful and the fire burned out.

A 32-year-old man was arrested a short time later and has been charged with two counts of mischief under $5,000, and arson.

He has been held for a bail hearing. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
