Mac’s convenience stores looking to sell alcohol

First Published:

Mac’s convenience stores says it would create up to 170 full-time jobs and open 27 new outlets if the province allows it to sell alcohol.

Mac’s says it would invest $54 million if given the green light to sell beer and wine. The new stores would be built within two years and would be located in Toronto, Brampton,Grey Bruce, London, Ottawa, Muskoka and other locations

When asked back in June whether he’d allow convenience stores to sell alcohol, Ontario finance minister Charles Sousa wouldn’t rule it out. However, he also said there are no plans to change the structure of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario, one of the largest purchasers and retailers of alcohol in the world, which turned over $1.65 billion to the province last year.
