(Updated) Having the Canada Day holiday on a Wednesday was a nice way to break up the week for many people in the Golden Horseshoe.

It felt more like a weekend than a weekday.

The sights and sounds of the Lynden Canada Day celebration filled the streets and Lyon’s Park with all kinds of things to see, do and eat.

It was also an opportunity to put on some seriously fun attire, like Shannon Korber did. “This is the best time of the year, this is actually better than Christmas… because you get to dress up like this.”

Kelly Regan took part in the parade “to show your support for your country and show everyone just how much you love it.”

What do people love about Canada? We caught up with Ancaster’s Bill Lawrence at a pancake breakfast.

“Canadians have a lot to be thankful for the diversity, people I feel are much more tolerant then other places.”

While little Sam told us “I like that there’s Canada’s Wonderland and fun stuff to play with”

And what’s more Canadian then some maple syrup on a pancake at the Rotary Club’s annual celebration? The Canada Day pancake breakfast attracts about 750 people every year and they serve up more than 2000 pancakes.

No matter where you were, Canadian pride was brightly showing its colours.
