It was a close call that could have ended in tragedy for five children. Two lifeguards are being credited with saving their lives after a roof collapsed at a swimming school north of Toronto yesterday afternoon.
The five swim students at the George Jacobson Swim School in Schomberg were in the pool when two instructors noticed the roof started leaking just before 3 p.m.
That was about the same time a storm was brewing in the region that brought heavy rain and hail.
Water began to flood the pool area which prompted the instructors to quickly evacuate the children who were in the pool.
Moments later, the main support beam that held up the roof crashed into the water. Everyone left the building and within moments the entire complex collapsed.
Police and emergency officials said there were no injuries reported.
