The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum’s Lancaster bomber has left England to begin its three-day journey back to Hamilton.

The World War II bomber just finished touring Britain with the only other airworthy Lancaster, owned by the Royal Air Force. After the last air show near Blackpool on sunday, the two Lancasters made a simulated low-level bombing run over the Derwent dam in Derbyshire.

The 69-year old Lancaster will hopscotch across the Atlantic, landing in Iceland, Greenland, Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador, and at CFB Trenton before reaching its home at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Mount Hope; that’s expected on Thursday.
