John C. Holland Awards

First Published:

The Reverend John C. Holland awards were handed out last night right here in Hamilton.

The first award was given to a member of the city’s black community 22 years ago, and every year since then young black Hamiltonians have received scholarships, bursaries, and recognition for their hard work in the community.

There were 15 people honoured in front of a packed house at Liuna Station. Past recipients including councilor Matthew Green were also in attendance.

Organizers say it’s important to encourage and recognize achievements of young black people in the city.
