The John C. Holland Awards took place in Hamilton over the weekend. Over the last two decades they’ve recognized and celebrated the heritage and accomplishments of the African Canadian community in Hamilton.

This year women took home ten out of the 13 awards presented. Alexandria Montague won a youth achievement award for her academic success, leadership and positive effect on the community. She believes the awards can inspire others to make a difference.

This year, for the 20th anniversary of the awards, a commemorative book,”Cream of the Crop”, has been produced. You can buy it from the John C. Holland website.
