(Update)
All of the parties at the international talks on the Ukraine crisis — Russia, Ukraine, the U.S. and Europe — unanimously condemned anti-semitism and other forms of religious intolerance.

This, after flyers were reportedly handed out to Jews in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk — telling them they must “register” with the government and document their property. Pro-Russian militants have claimed power in Donetsk. The flyers had the name of Denis Pushilin, the head of the self-declared, pro-Russian “People’s Republic of Donetsk.” But Pushilin denies any connection to the documents.

U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry, spoke about the flyers in Geneva Thursday: “Just in the last couple of days, notices were sent to Jews in one city, indicating that they had to identify themselves as Jews. And, obviously, the accompanying threat implied is, or threaten or suffer the consequences in one way or another. In the year 2014, after the miles traveled and the journey of history, this is not just intolerable, it’s grotesque.”

Pushilin calls the documents a “clear provocation.” The Jewish community in Donetsk also says the flyer quote “smells like a provocation.”
