Joseph Jackson, father of Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson and their talented siblings, has died at the age of 89.

According to a source close to the family, Jackson died Wednesday in a Las Vegas Hospital.

Jackson was a guitarist who put his own musical ambitions aside to work in the steel mills to support his wife and nine children in Gary, Indiana. He took his family from poverty and launched a musical dynasty.

No cause of death has been released.
