Dozens rounded up in child porn sweep

The OPP have released details on what they call the largest child pornography bust in Canadian history.
Officers from 23 different police services were part of a sweep last night. 213 Charges have been laid, and 60 arrests have been made. Police used technology to locate several computer addresses and identify the suspects. Those charged include three youths.

OPP Detective-Sergeant Frank Goldschmidt says "They come from all walks of life, all occupations. Care workers... I think a daycare worker was arrested this time again. And all different age groups as well."

Charges include sexual assault, child luring, possession of child pornography, making child pornography and accessing child pornography online.

Acting commissioner Scott Tod: "Child pornography is the sexual abuse of children, every image of child pornography represents a child victim. Every trading or transmission of that image represents re-victimization of that child."

So far, 22 victims have been identified.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, and there could be more arrests.

    I can't believe that you report that "among those arrested were 2 16 year olds" with such relish..Seriously, when is it wrong for young people to be interested in other young people. The thought police are alive and well. Anyone who has ever visited a site on which the girls or boys are underage is among the 6000+ people connected to this ring. I'm a 47 year old woman with no interest in child pornography, but I am interested in reporting that is not sensationalized.

    Wow!! I worked with one of the guys for 5 years at McDonald's on Upper Gage and Mohawk! We were both managers!!! So creepy! Always got the creeps from him but never would've guessed this!!
