The trial of a man accused of killing two teens in an impaired driving crash in 2012 has been adjourned until next week.

18-year old Gwen Martin was killed on December 3, 2012, after police say a pickup truck crashed into her ATV on the Six Nations reserve. 15-year old William Harris of Hagersville was also killed in the crash.

41-year old Travis Grant Squire-Hill of Ohsweken faces several charges, including two counts of impaired driving causing death. His trial was set to get underway this morning, but has been adjourned until April 28th.

The teens’ mothers say they are ready for the trial to begin, so they can move on.

“I’ve resigned my mind to expect the unexpected and to not place any amount of happiness in the outcome of any of this. They can adjourn it as long as they want, but our kids are still away, they’re not coming back,” said Tanya Martin, Gwen’s mother.

“We just want justice and I’m at a loss for words right now. We just want justice and we want to have a little bit of closure in our lives and it just seems like it’s dragging on. It’s dragging on,” said Beth Harris, William’s mother.

The trial will begin on what would have been Gwen’s 20th birthday.
