Humboldt Broncos name former NHLer Nathan Oystrick as head coach

First Published:

The Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team has named former NHLer Nathan Oystrick, from Saskatchewan as its new head coach.

Oystrick says he’s looking forward to leading the team, while never forgetting the tragic circumstances that brought him to the role.

In April, the team bus collided with a semi-truck in Saskatchewan, killing 16 people including head coach Darcy Haugan and injuring 13 others.

Oystrick played professional  hockey for 10 seasons with the Atlanta Thrashers, Anaheim Ducks and St. Louis Blues.
