Update: Police have now confirmed the deceased female that was located within the debris field of the explosion on Hickory Dr. is 55-year old Dianne Page.  A man’s body has also been found within the debris field, his identity has not yet been confirmed.

Many residents of the area are only now getting back into their homes after damage from the afternoon explosion spanned an entire neighbourhood. The core of the blast is still too dangerous for investigators and they don’t know if any other bodies will be found there.

Police say Dianne Page lived in the house with Robert Nadler. Media reports say Nadler inherited the house from his parents and then took out a mortgage. After the explosion, neighbours found several odd notes seemingly authored by someone worried about money. A Robert Nadler of a similar age was convicted of murdering his best friend in the 80’s.
“We’re not confirming any criminal background.” Said Peel Police.

Neighbours all have similar problems, unusable doors. nails coming through the ceiling. smoke detectors falling. stairs detaching from the wall. Almost every roof has pieces missing. Insulation has been floating around like tree fluff and insurance adjusters are taking photos of all the damage. Some homes may have to be torn down.

About 700 homes were evacuated after the explosion and Thursday morning about 10% of those residents still couldn’t go near their homes. The City of Mississauga has now opened up a rec centre so affected people can get information, a shower, or emergency accommodation.
