Horns is a fantasy thriller based on the book of the same name by Joe Hill and directed by Alexandre Aja (Piranha 3D). The film actually had its premiere at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival but is only being released now. Horns stars Daniel Radcliffe, Max Minghella, Joe Anderson, Juno Temple, James Remar, Heather Graham, and David Morse.

Blamed for the murder of his girlfriend and ostracized by everyone he knows, a small-town guy (Daniel Radcliffe) awakens one morning to find he’s grown a pair of horns. Armed with the supernatural powers they possess, he sets out to find the true killer.

British Columbia was home for the film’s production with shooting taking place in Vancouver, Squamish, and Mission. “Vancouver had a grunge feel to it that felt in tune with the novel’s references,” explains director Alexandre Aja. “We found one dense area that had the most incredible moss I’ve ever seen, which covered the paths, hung from the trees and was naturally overgrown. It almost looked like a set because it was too perfect. Our production designer, Allan Cameron and I were sold and this became our treehouse location and the most important visual in the film.”

Horns is rated 14A.
