Hasan Escorted Back To Canada

First Published:

A Hamilton man wanted in a fatal stabbing of a Kitchener woman has been escorted back to the Waterloo region from Texas to answer to a charge of second degree murder.

Twenty-four-year-old Ager Hasan was arrested in San Antonio in July after fleeing to the United States the same day his ex-girlfriend was found dead.

Hasan faces a murder charge in the death of his former girlfriend, 22-year-old Melinda Vasilije.

Court documents show Vasilije was stabbed more than 30 times with a steak knife in her Kitchener apartment.

Hasan fought his extradition to Canada, but a Texas judge ruled in November he would be returned to Waterloo.

Hasan is scheduled to appear in court in Kitchener on Monday.
