‘Hang up the phone right now’ Brantford robbery caught on camera

Police are searching for a bat-wielding thief after a convenience store was robbed in Brantford.

Around 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, a man walked into St. George Grand Street Variety on St. George St. armed with a baseball bat.

The man told the clerk to hang up the telephone and proceeded to hand him a plastic bag.

The Brantford Police Service (BPS) say the man obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and the victim was not physically injured.

The suspect is described as a white male, about six-foot, with an average build. He was wearing a black hood, red bandana, sunglasses and blue pants with a white stripe.

“The BPS are releasing the video including the audio in hopes that with both the visual of the suspects stature including his voice that someone from our community may be able to identify him,” said police in a news release.
