Hamilton woman struck and killed by flying truck tire

First Published:

Police say a 53-year-old woman from Hamilton is dead, after the vehicle she was driving was hit by wheel assembly and tire that flew off a truck on the QEW in Burlington.

The woman has been identified as Miroslawa Chmielewski, who police say veered off the Toronto-bound lanes near North Shore Boulevard before 7 a.m.

Police are trying to figure out how the wheel came off, and are still looking for the truck that was driving Niagara-bound at the time of the accident.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
