Hamilton man charged with sexual assault of a child

Patrick Bedell is now facing additional charges, after Hamilton Police say another child victim has been identified.

A 74-year old Hamilton man is facing charges after a nine year old girl was sexually assaulted on May 24 and the Hamilton Police believe there could be more victims.

Local residents to the McQueston neighbourhood were shocked to hear that a man sexually assaulted a 9 year old girl. Patrick Bedell is being charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, and invitation to sexual touching.

Police said that the girl was lured into the Bedell’s home where the assault happened.

According to a tip received on May 25th the girl went to visit a friend, who turned out not to be home, and Bedell lured the 9 year old into his house with the offer of candy. The girl went home and told her parents what happened and the police were contacted.

Detectives are asking anyone with any information about this sexual assault to come forward. Hamilton Police believe that there may be more victims who have had contact with Patrick Bedell.
