Halton Police and MTO alongside several other police forces in the GTHA kicked off their annual truck inspection blitz at Mohawk Racetrack this morning.

During the two-day blitz, officers will be out looking for commercial vehicles that show safety flaws and faults. The vehicles will then be escorted to the parking lot of Mohawk Racetrack where they will be thoroughly inspected. Any vehicles deemed unsafe, will be taken off the road.

Small panel trucks, cube vans and pickup trucks with trailers will be targeted in the blitz.

Last year, a total of 472 trucks were inspected over the two-day period, of those, 167 were deemed unsafe and were taken off the road.
