Halton Police alert public of phony delivery scam

First Published:

Halton Police are warning small business owners about a package delivery scam.

They say a person claiming to be from a neighbouring business says they’re expecting an urgent package, but won’t be around for the delivery. So the “business owner” asks the victim to sign and pay for the package with the promise to pay back the victim when they return to pick up the package.

The scam continues when a man shows up with a box and collects the cash on delivery fee from the victim and leaves. Only the so-called business owner never comes back for the package and the victim is out money and left with a box full of old magazines.

Police are hoping to identify the man in this picture. Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
