The Grey Cup festivities are officially underway in Vancouver where, for the first time in 4 years, the host city doesn’t have a team in the big game. Ironically enough, the last time Hamilton and Calgary met in the championship game, B.C. Place provided the backdrop.

They held the annual coaches news conference Wednesday. Kent Austin and John Hufnagel sharing the microphone, before doing the same with the sidelines on Sunday. The two actually have some history with Austin starting his CFL career with Saskatchewan in 1987 when Hufnagel was a player-coach. Another thing they have in common is two Grey Cup rookies at quarterback.

Ticats head coach Kent Austin: “Don’t ever question whether Zach will come to play and be prepared to play. He hasn’t been in a championship game but we all had to play in our first championship game at one point. So there’s always a first game. I don’t know if that really matters honestly.”

Stamps head coach John Hufnagel: “The game’s not too big for Bo. That’s the easiest way to say it. He manages it, he makes plays, he makes mistakes like anybody, but he’ll come back and manage the game.”
