Starting at the end of next month, GO buses travelling along the Eastbound 401 from Regional Road 25 in Milton to the 401/407 interchange will have designated bypass shoulder lanes.

Ontario’s Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca made the announcement yesterday, saying that the bypass lanes will complement other Ontario initiatives already underway aimed at improving transit between the Kitchener-Waterloo region and Toronto.

The plan is to leave these bypass lanes in place until the completion of the 401 expansion project which will include HOV lanes in both directions.

Metrolinx spokesperson Anne-Marie Aikins says the routes that will be directly impacted are the 27 Milton/North York and the 36 Brampton/North York routes.
