Girl struck by van

An 11-year-old girl is reportedly fighting for her life in a Hamilton hospital after she was hit by a van in Kitchener.

It happened just after 1 this afternoon on Westwood Drive, near Gallarno Drive. She was reportedly riding her bike on a sidewalk when she was hit.

Waterloo Police say a 53-year-old man was leaving his home when his van struck the girl. She was originally taken to Grand River Hospital, but was sent to Hamilton by air ambulance.
