Gable supporting Ticats all purpose offence

The Tiger-Cats will be shooting for their second straight win when they host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Thursday night at McMaster. C.J. Gable looks to pick up where he left off last game. The Ticats running back was at his “all-purpose” best against the Ottawa Redblacks.

C.J. Gable admits that he was frustrated at the beginning of this season. He says he was rushing plays, and was too worried about his individual performance. Last week against Ottawa, he left those worries behind him, racking-up 167 all-purpose yards, and scoring one touchdown.

He’s hoping for similar results against Winnipeg.

C.J Gable: “I think everybody’s the same, no matter if they’re 0-5 or 6-0. I don’t care. I just go out and do my job. If we all do that then we’ll have success.”

Kent Austin knows the bombers “D” will provide a formidable challenge. Coming off a 23-6 win in B.C., they held the Lions to their lowest point total in 27 years: “They’re gonna collapse the pocket, it doesn’t matter how many guys you bring in, they’re gonna 1 plus you in your protection and force you to get rid of the ball. You gotta be prepared for it. C.J’s critical, but so is everybody else.”

Quarterback Dan Lefevour: “He’s more than just a running back, he’s the best blocking back in the league. Great hands, a lot of tools. One of the best backs I’ve seen.”

And the fact that it’s Lefevour, not Zach Collaros behind centre, hasn’t phased Gable one bit.

C.J. Gable: “Whoever’s next in it’s the same thing. Me and Dan was doing the same thing last year, so all I have to do is protect him. That’s what I do for him.”
