It’s been a week since a four year-old rescue pony beloved by local children was killed near its home in Stoney Creek.

Sunday, friends of Moonpie gathered at the Devil’s Punchbowl Market where the shetland used to give rides and frolic with friends.

For hours, friends dropped in to gaze at photos and sign the guestbook.

His horse friends seem to be mourning too, especially Vinnie.

The two were inseperable.

Sunday Vinnie was trotting through his orchard route and began to panic at the site of Moonpie’s grave.

Last Sunday Moonpie was found dead around 8 p.m.

It appears he was shot by a cross bow from close range.

The arrow entered his front leg, piercing his heart and lung.

Someone then tracked him and and cut the arrow out of him.

Police and the SPCA are investigating, and reports say the Ministry of Natural Resources doesn’t believe this was a hunting accident.
