It’s been another brutally cold day. In some areas, the temperature dipped to minus 35 overnight.

In Kitchener, Waterloo – it was so cold that they closed all the schools. Lila Read from the Waterloo Region School Board explains the decision. ” We know at minus 35 with windchill that childrens skin can freeze within ten minutes and we have kids that walk to school – that their walking distance is longer than ten minutes, we have kids waiting for buses and they wait for longer than ten minutes, so this decision is all about student safety”

It’s the second day this school year that the facilities have been closed board wide due to the weather. That left 60 thousand students home from school today.
