Four families are looking for a place to live after an early morning fire on Saturday in Milton.

Fire crews were called to a row of townhomes on Swindale Dr. at about 5:30am.  When they arrived on scene, flames were shooting through the roof of one of the units. Fire officials say three homes were destroyed

Tim McClinton, who lives across the street from the home, ran over and helped get the residents to safety.  McClinton is being touted as the ‘neighbourhood hero’.

The Canadian Red Cross says they are assisting the four displaced families which includes nine people,  plus pets.  Five Red Cross responders attended the fire and provided emergency lodging, food, clothing, pet boarding, baby products, blankets and hygiene kits.

A lightning strike is being blamed for the blaze.
