A group of Japanese students from Tokyo are spending two weeks out of their month-long summer vacation to visit Hamilton to learn about Canadian culture.
These Tokyo private school students are diving headfirst into all things Canadian.
The 10th graders were brought here by Muskoka Language International, which invites thousands of international students to over 100 Canadian communities.
They’ve been in Hamilton for almost a week and have been busy.
Japan is widely regarded as one of the most polite countries on earth, and the students are learning Canadians aren’t too far behind.
To complete their Canadian-ification, the students stay with local billets who then become the students themselves.
The students also took part in a car wash to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity.
Next week, the students will go on a nature walk and learn about Indigenous culture. Some billets will take it upon themselves to take the girls to nearby cities like Toronto to check that out as well.
