Today, Air Transat teamed up with the Children’s Wish Foundation for the 10th year in a row to grant wishes to 70 sick children.

They took them on a flight to the North Pole to meet Santa.

70 excited children and their families were handed their boarding passes.

So they could take off for the North Pole on a special flight to find Santa.

“I’m excited about Santa Claus.”

“It’s been really exciting, they got up really early this morning.”

One of the children’s wish kids is six-year old Anya Martinez from Ancaster who was diagnosed with leukemia four-years ago and has been having experimental treatment for cancer in the U.S.

“Good. You are doing good, you are doing good.”

Michael Martinez, Anya’s father: “So far, so good. We are always taking it one day at a time. Last year, we were in the hospital for Xmas so we are looking like it’s a possibility we will be home for Christmas. The results so far are good.”

Onboard the plane they waited anxiously, watching for Santa.

And then. Santa magically appeared.

And he took the time to meet all the children and hear their Christmas wishes.

Anya: “I wanted a Strawberry Shortcake stand, a human sized one.”

At the end of every Air Transat flight, flight attendants ask passengers to donate their spare change to the Small Change, Big Hearts Program. And over the last 10 years, over 5 million dollars has been raised for the Children’s Wish Foundation.

Sandra Harris, The Children’s Wish Foundation: “It’s a great family day where they don’t have to worry about doctor appointments and hospital visits.”

And gave them the chance to just be kids.

“I’m Anya, reporting live with Santa Claus.”
