A Flamborough business on Highway 6 has suffered extensive damage after a fire tore through a storage and manufacturing building on their property.

It happened at Flamborough Patio Furniture, a store known for the giant dinosaurs on the front lawn, around 3:00 p.m. Saturday.

Hamilton fire crews arrived to find one of the three buildings on the site heavily engulfed in flames. The structure was completely destroyed by the blaze but crews were able to protect the two neighbouring buildings.

“We immediately went into a defensive attack on the large structure protecting the two structures to the side,” said Hamilton Fire spokesperson Claudio Mostacci. “The residential home and the commercial property has suffered some damage but the firefighters did an absolutely amazing job and were able to knock the fire down from getting into those homes.”

The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called into investigate. Damage is estimated at $500,000
