The first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs kicks off for the Toronto Maple Leafs Thursday night down in Boston.
The Leafs just had their best regular season in team history, and fans are expecting them to go pretty far in these playoffs.
The owner of the Endzone says by just having the Leafs in the playoffs, his business can add at least $2000 to the nightly profits.
The Toronto Maple Leafs won the season series against the Bruins 3 games to 1 including a tight 4-3 win in February.
There were only 96 tickets available to the public for game 3 on Monday night, the rest went to season ticket holders, and re-sellers.
Hard to find tickets means more people will be watching the game somewhere else like the Endzone Bar and Grill. “Say tonight it could be an extra couple grand, that goes far and then second round on a Saturday could double our Saturday.” says Greg Koropatnicki
Koropatnicki says a long playoff run by the leafs could add up to nearly $20,000 in food and drink sales and they’re not the only business benefiting.
Chase Duthie, the owner of Pro Hockey Life say, “Oh it’s huge, more Leafs fans involved in the playoff rush, brings a lot of traffic to us, good to see excitement in fans faces.”
Fans have been snatching up Leafs jerseys, hats, and t-shirts at Pro Hockey Life on Hamilton mountain.
Last year, the Leafs weren’t expected to make the playoffs so it was a bonus, but fans are expecting a lot more from them this year, and are hoping for at least a second round appearance.
