Sports history is being made. The only openly-gay football player to be drafted by an NFL team is now coming to the CFL. Michael Sam has signed a two year deal with the Montreal Allouettes.

Sam spent parts of last season with the St. Louis Rams and Dallas Cowboys, but never played in a regular season game.

The 25-year-old defensive end made history at last year’s NFL draft when he was picked by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round. He was later cut by the Rams and spent some time on the practice squad for Dallas.

Sam was an All-American in his senior year at the university of Missouri, but he didn’t come out until after his college career was over.

Michael Sams number 94 Allouette jersey is already on sale

He will be officially introduced next week.
