Fire at Milton home causes over $1 million in damage

First Published:

Officials say damage from a fire at a Milton home is estimated at over $1 million.

Fire crews were responding to another incident when they noticed a fire at a house on Playfair Terrace around 4:30 a.m. Monday.

At this point, it’s not clear if a vehicle in the driveway was on fire or if it started in the garage.

Crews knocked on the door and woke up the people inside.

Three people, a dog and a rabbit made it out of the home safely, said Milton Fire Chief Dave Pratt.

By the time crews got setup, the blaze had spread to the home’s attic, prompting them to begin aerial operations.

The cause of the blaze is still unknown.

The Ontario Fire Marshal has been notified but officials say it doesn’t appear to be suspicious.
