Family and friends are remembering the five University of Calgary students killed in Calgary’s worst mass murder. Police chief Rick Hanson says they were all good kids in their 20s who had no prior contact with police.

The victims are Kaitlin Perras, 23, Lawrence Hong, 27, Zackariah Rathwell, 23, and Josh Hunter, 22. Rathwell and Hunter were in a band together called Zackariah and the Prophets.

Also killed, Jordan Segura, 23, whose former employer, a funeral director, spoke about Segura today saying he was well liked by the staff.

“Jordan came to us last year interested in funeral service. He wanted to serve people, be there when they needed him,” said Ernie Hagel. “Never in a hurry. He wanted to make sure people were looked after. Very well rounded.”

There was a makeshift memorial at the scene of the murders today. Police say all five victims had been celebrating the last day of classes at a home near the university when a man arrived at the party, grabbed a knife and began stabbing people.
