Fake money used to buy multiple gaming systems at local Walmart

First Published:

Hamilton police are hoping the public can help identify a man accused of using fake money to buy multiple gaming systems last month.

Police allege the man purchased an Xbox One gaming system and a PlayStation gaming system at the Walmart on Centennial Parkway North and paid $1,000 in counterfeit $50 American notes.

They say the man left the store and went to another Walmart on Garner Rd. East in Ancaster where he used more counterfeit $50 American notes to buy two PS4 systems for $1,200.

It’s alleged he left that location and immediately went to the Walmart on Fairview St. in Burlington and returned the items for cash.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, mid-to late 20s, roughly five-foot-eight to five-foot-ten, with a medium build. He had a thick chin-strap style beard with a goatee and was wearing glasses, a black jacket with leather trim on the shoulders and elbows.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Det. Angela Abrams of the Major Fraud Unit at 905-546-4603.
