This weekend you can take a trip into the Sri Lankan jungle with Monkey Kingdom, the latest nature documentary from Disneynature. Narrated by Tina Fey, the film focuses on a group of toque macaques, named for their unique – and very Canadian – haircuts. Those who want to see some monkeys up close though should skip IKEA and head to the Toronto Zoo. We had a chance to visit the leontopithecus rosalia exhibit (golden lion tamarins to primatology amateurs like ourselves) and chat with Maria Franke, the zoo’s curator of mammals, to learn about the monkey’s and the conservation work being done to save them.
