Thousands of Canadians vacation in the tiny Caribbean island of Dominica. It has been known for its beauty, but a state of disaster has been declared on Monday after tropical storm Erika killed more than 20 people and caused widespread flooding.

Even though the storm did not reach hurricane status, it caused enough damage. The island’s Prime Minister is appealing for international aid. In Hamilton, there is a small population of people from Dominica and they plan on doing whatever possible to help the battered island.
