Earth Day preview

Some call it “the big wide world;” others call it “our little blue planet”. Big or small, people concerned with its environmental welfare, will try to do what they can Tuesday, to make a difference on ‘Earth Day’. And there are things you can do — both large and small — to help both the planet, and yourself.

It’s a grand corporate gesture for Earth Day. Tim Hortons — announcing that it’s going to fix a lightbulb — or two. The company will replace all existing light fixtures, with energy efficient LED lighting. In the first year alone — they expect to save enough energy to power 400 homes for a year — and as for cutting carbon emissions — it’s like taking more than 900 cars off the road. When the conversion is finished — they’ll save ten times that amount.
