The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New England Patriots to earn their first Super Bowl victory.
The Eagles backup quarterback Nick Foles finished 28 out of 43 passes for 373 yards and three touchdowns and came away as Super Bowl MVP.
Foles threw a go-ahead five-yard touchdown pass to Zach Ertz with just minutes left in the game and the team captured their first-ever title of Super Bowl champions outscoring the Pats 41-33.

The Eagles blew a 12-point lead in the high-scoring matchup. The Patriots led 33-32 until Ertz caught the ball on an 11-yard reception and took two steps before losing the ball during his plunge into the end zone. The play was reviewed and Ertz was ruled to have become a runner with the ball before crossing the goal line.
The Patriots had their chance to regain the lead but Brady fumbled on the second play of the drive.
The two teams set an NFL playoff record by combining for 1,151 yards, 613 by the Patriots.
