Duo arrested for stealing $22,000 worth of roofing supplies

Two men from the GTA have been arrested after more than $22,000 worth of roofing supplies was stolen in Milton.

Officers were called to a break-in at Gibson Building Supplies on Holgate Cres. around 9:53 p.m. Saturday.

Police say two thieves used power tools to force their way inside the store. “While the suspects’ [sic] were loading their cache into their vehicle they were surprised to see several responding HRPS officers,” said Halton police in a news release.

The duo fled in a rented cube truck and failed to when officers attempted to pull them over. Police say the rear roll-up door was not secured and roofing supplies fell onto the road as the pair attempted to get away.

Investigators say officers managed to pin the vehicle and the suspects fled on foot. They were quickly captured without incident.

Thirty-four-year-old Sean Grima, of Mississauga and 36-year-old Jonathon Marucio, of Toronto, are facing multiple charges including break and enter and theft over $5,000.
