Driving classes for Halton’s finest

First Published:

So many Halton police officers have been crashing their cruisers that they’ve been ordered to take driving classes.

In the first six months of this year, Halton cruisers have been involved in 70 crashes.

Officials say 41 of them were preventable.

Some were caused by going too fast for conditions, following too closely and making improper turns.

The main reason for preventable collisions?

Police officers simply backing into things, often in mall parking lots.
