The “Driven to Quit” challenge starts March first. Statistics show that about 75 per cent of people who smoke want to quit. In this annual challenge, everyone who stays smoke free for the whole month of March is entered for a chance to win a brand new car, and that extra incentive helps them take the leap. This year’s grand prize winner will get to choose a car donated by Redhill Toyota.
“If someone quits for 30 days, they are about five times more likely to succeed…and so we chose 30 days intentionally. We thought, it’s a good enough time to get someone over the hump of a lot of the cravings and withdrawal symptoms” says Director of Cancer Prevention, John Atkinson.
Last year, 85 per cent of participants were cigarette free by the end of March. Before a winner can claim the car, they have to prove they’ve been smoke free with a urine test.
The deadline to register is February 28th.
