Doug Ford may have lost in Toronto’s mayoral race. But he’s not giving up on politics. Although it’s only been two days since the election results were announced, he’s already hinting at his next endeavor.

Fresh from a second-place showing in Toronto’s mayoral race, Doug Ford says he’s now considering running for the Progressive Conservative leadership.

Ford announced on a radio station earlier today that he may join the race to lead the PC party. Tim Hudak, who stepped down after the party’s election loss, says Ford displayed a lot of formidable political talent in the campaign for Toronto Mayor. And other members of the PC party are also welcoming the idea of Ford joining the race.

Monte McNaughton, running for PC leadership: “I for one, trust the Conservative grass roots to make the right decision, in who they want here. But I think anything we can do to raise the profile of the party to attract new members. Before we had 100 thousand members, now we have 10 thousand members.”

Tim Hudak, former PC leader: “Doug will need to decide if he runs or not. Doug ran a hell of a campaign. He’s a talent. We will see what he does next.”

So far, five people have joined the race to replace Hudak as PC leader and the vote is to take place in May.
