Police are sounding the alarm after liquid fentanyl was found in Hamilton. It’s so deadly police are warning drug dealers to stay away from it.

The deadly liquid was found in May when police raided a number of properties including one on Marilyn court. The unknown substance at the time was sent to Health Canada for testing. It’s taken until now to get the results and the RCMP believe that this is the only identified seizure of fentanyl in a liquid state in Canada. The drug can be absorbed through the skin and accidental inhalation of airborne powder can also occur if not handled properly. All it takes is a tiny drop and the results are fatal.

“If someone who is not aware of what this substance was and they are twisting the caps off of these types of products and they are not sure what it is, they can potentially die by doing so. So we really need to stress that if people are aware and are dealing with these illegal narcotics report it to police so we can investigate.” Steve Welton, Hamilton Police.

Police say they don’t know exactly where the deadly liquid fentanyl came from but say they know the powder form of the drug often comes from China and are investigating to see if that’s where the liquid is originally from as well.
