Cross country skiing back in fashion

These snowy winters may be a pain, but you can thank them for bringing cross country skiing back into fashion. “A lot of activities – they kind of go through cycles and cross country skiing is on the upward trend right now” says Craig Machan of Conservation Halton.

As far as winter sports go, it’s a pretty easy one to pick up – all you need is boots, skis and poles. They’re 20 bucks to rent at Hilton Falls Conservation Area in Milton. It’s a bit more demanding than downhill but there are upsides to that. “You’re moving your entire body so you get your arms going, your legs going and everything and even being in nature’s great for your mental health as well.” Says Mr. Machan.
