Niagara Councillor sends nude photo in email

First Published:

A St. Catharines regional councillor is in hot water after a pornographic photo was sent from his email address to almost a hundred people. Andy Petrowski has apologized, saying someone else sent out the email. His apology, however, hasn’t stopped demands for his resignation.

It started with an email sent out by the region regarding construction work on St. Paul Street over the Burgoyne Bridge in St.Catharines.

Petrowski replied to that email, which included 95 recipients, saying, “there must have been a sale on these multi-million dollar, taxpayer funded, non-functional arches.” He continues by calling the bridge a joke but attached to that email was this photo of a woman completely naked sitting on a chair with her legs apart.

About five minutes after sending the email, Petrowski sent an apology that read, “I apologize to everyone for the previous e-mail just sent…this was sent in error as a terrible message by someone who was using my iPad, I thought to send a private message. I am very sorry for this unacceptable and inappropriate transmission.”

We reached out to councillor Petrowski to clarify what he meant by that, all he said was he takes full responsibility for the lack of judgement in leaving his email unlocked.

This is not the first time Petrowski has made headlines for his conduct online. He’s posted anti-Semitic and homophobic videos and comments on his Twitter in the past. Earlier this month, the region’s integrity commissioner ruled that Petrowski violated council’s code of conduct. Two of the violations were in relation to Petrowski’s use of twitter.
