Hamilton police and students are working together to put an end to bullying in schools. More than 75 kids and a handful of female police officers took part in “Girls Leadership Day” at Mountain View Public School Tuesday morning. Police hope events like this continue to inspire and build leadership qualities in young students.

Lynda Sohal, Hamilton Police: “When I did this two years ago, it was very, very powerful. As a beat officer going back out into the community and being in their home and they remember the impact of this day and it’s long last effect. Our hope is they take that on with them as they head off to high school and become junior leaders in our community.”

Police say the purpose of Tuesday’s event is to address the ongoing bullying issues among girls in school. Tuesday’s activities included arts and crafts, as well as speeches from local female police officers.
