Corporal Nathan Cirillo’s Regiment is speaking out about a controversial fundraising effort by Conservative MP Cheryl Gallant. Gallant, who represents Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke.

She sent out an email to residents in her riding with a headline “Terrorists in our midst” but nowhere in the email are there any specifics about where any terrorists are, or if they even exist. Former military members and the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders are upset as Corporal Nathan Cirillo’s picture is included in the email. Gallant also mentioned the fact that the Liberals are reversing a Conservative law that would have revoked citizenship for anyone convicted of terrorist activity. At the end of the email there is a link where people can donate to the party, and in exchange get a free Easter ham.

The honorary Colonel of the Regiment released a short statement on the email today, saying “this is disgusting, insensitive and any further comment from our Regiment would give this undeserved attention.”
