CN Rail served the union with notice that a lockout will start Monday night.

That means around 5,000 engineers, mechanics, and clerical workers will be off the job.

Unifor, the union that represents the workers, says the notice “proves that CN has no desire to negotiate.”

CN president and chief executive officer, Claude Mongeau, said last week that their offer was “fair, competitive, and fully in line” with recent contracts which were negotiated with other unions.
