Charges laid in deadly Halton Hills crash

Halton Police have laid a dangerous driving charge in a deadly crash in Georgetown last month.

A car was travelling on Maple St., near Main St. around 1 a.m. on Dec. 9 when the driver lost control.

The vehicle struck several light standards before crashing into a tree.

A passenger sitting in the back seat was critically injured and died.

He’s been identified as 18-year-old Danial Waseem from Mississauga.

The driver and front-seat passenger had minor injuries.

Police have charged Mark Abd El Malek with dangerous driving causing death.

He is scheduled to appear in a Milton court on Feb. 5.
